Thinking about a small dog
After Corjack and Sophies visit to the house and our trip to the deer lease I am thinking about maybe getting a smaller dog.
Sophie was a treat to have around.
I would still like a dog that could track a wounded deer/pig, etc., and weigh say less than 20 lbs or so.
I have seen some pictures from German hunters that use a little brown dog for tracking.
What kind of dog is that?

I don't know about the German dog but Jack russles are awesome for that job, I had them for years and their easy maintenance and great workers.
I'm soft and I don't care.

Probably one of these. Mine is just starting to track liver at 9 weeks and is now trained to sit, stay and come. Its going to be all of 12 pounds when she gets older. And it can go down a hole to pull out a rabbit.NE450No2 wrote:After Corjack and Sophies visit to the house and our trip to the deer lease I am thinking about maybe getting a smaller dog.

Could be the next dog companion. I see the size of hole for the field trials is 20cm by 18cm which I'm trying to coax the dachshund into a hole 2/3 this size and she won't go

Yes.....and thats about all she doesmchughcb wrote:That is cool, its it trained to sit on command?

First older rescue dog for me and she is hard headed and a bit of a brute. But we have made steady progress to gain some manners. She walks pretty good on a leash and when on trails with other hikers and dogs stays mindful of me; that in and of itself is far better than when I brought her home.
I have yet to own a real hunting/working dog.....someday.

I found you a puppy, and she is in the D/FW area, plus the price is right.
