Hi all. I’m new to the website and new to being a Blaser owner as of today. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I love hunting and shooting and my gun passion is for German drillings, combination guns and generally any well made cool European rifles or shotguns.
Today, I was able to acquire a “like new” Blaser BD 880 in 20g/7x65R/22 Hornet. The gun appeared unfired and the original Blaser case still had the red plastic tabs through the combo locks. I will post pics when I get a chance.
I was wondering if anyone could give me a rundown of the function of the action on their gun. It did not come with a manual. I was also wondering if anyone had a manual they could copy and email me or post. It is a bit cold (-20 C) to get here out in the next couple days so I was hoping a knowledgeable Blaser Bud could direct me on function. The gun has the cocker-decocker on the tang and two triggers but the second trigger will not dry fire after the first is dry fired and the cocker stays in the cocked position. Does the gun require revolving after the first shot or does it require the recoil to cock the second trigger. Also, which triggers/selector do what?
My local gun store had picked up a cache of fine guns from a collectors and I ended up trading him 3 rifles for this fine bockdrilling. He had not fired the gun and doesn’t know much about combo guns. Like I said, I own a number of combos and drillings but the 880 is a new one for me.
Any help would be great.
Michael

Re: Blaser BD 880
Welcome aboard Michael, I too have a lifelong passion for drillings. My very first memories of hunting were with my grandfather and his old drilling. I was only about ten years old, and I couldn’t shoot it without my grandfather assisting me as it was so heavy. Ever since that moment I was was hooked on drillings. At the moment I have two, one double rifle drilling and one bock drilling.
As for your BD880 question, there are a couple of owners on this forum that I am aware of. Hopefully one may be able to assist you.
But I would recommend you put a wanted add on Egun. It’s nice to have the original owners manual for a special gun.
I did notice one did sell in 2019 in Switzerland, so you never know you might get lucky and someone will have one.

Re: Blaser BD 880
Thanks so much Allan. I will do that. I have also reached out to Blaser.de. Hopefully, the serial number may add some information for my gun.
I did take it out today. It was hovering around the freezing mark with 15-25mph winds but I had to get out! It shot Norma Oryx Factory 170gr under 1.5inches 3 shot at 100 yards. The 22 Hornet was Winchester Super X 45 gr and it shot just over 1.5 inch groups. That ammo is garbage with more than a 200fps extreme spread for 10 shots!
Overall, the rifle barrels were not perfect but within about 2 inches left to right and 2 inches up and down. I’m going to load some precision groups then make my adjustments. Shot gun was bang on at 25 with the irons and both rifle barrels.
Super impressed so far. She’ll definitely be a tinkerer… which is what I like!

Re: Blaser BD 880
Welcome to Blaserbuds. I would contact Blaser in Isny and see if you can get a manual, though it will probably be in German. I'll have to look and see if I can find my manual, offhand I'm not sure I have one.
I still have my BD880, which I purchased new in 1998, in 20ga over 30-06 with the Hornet.
The front trigger fires the large caliber, and if you push up that lever to the right of the trigger guard that front trigger will fire the Hornet.
The rear trigger always fires the shotgun.
Whichever barrel you fire, you must recock the 'cocking' mechanism to fire another barrel. That's just how the BD880 works. Just decock and recock, or break it open which will decock it.
Adjusting that Hornet is very touchy. You sight in scope with large caliber, and use the screw adjustments at the end of the Hornet barrel to adjust POI. Don't be in no hurry to do this, as the barrel warms and moves POI, so it could take hours and days to get it dialed in.
Good luck with your BD880, I have many fond hunting memories using mine, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Don is the main man.
That's interesting Don. On the BD14, front trigger is 308, rear trigger 222 or push up pin and rear is 20G.
