I am shooting factory buckshot right now, but I am still kicking around the idea of loading my own. ;)

After only 9 shots, it appears my 308 loads are going to work well, but I am planning to be shooting more tomorrow and will test them more thoroughly.Image

I had my first true range session yesterday with my new gun and am more impressed everytime I pull the trigger. I put about 10 rounds of buckshot and 5 rounds of slugs down range and got some pretty good patterns out of the buckshot, and the slugs printed fairly well too. I have always used Federal 00 buckshot, both 2 3/4 and 3", but I recently bought a case of Fiocchi 2 3/4" 00 buck. After shooting three different loads, the Fiocchi printed the best with a 9 pellets hitting inside a 15 inch circle at 25 yards. I am quite pleased and believe that a deer or hog within that range is in grave danger.

I also fired about 50 rounds through my 308 barrel, and the accuracy out of it was typical Blaser.Image I used my loads that I have been using in my R-93 Tracker barrel, but I am going to load up some more and play with the seating depth to see if it might make any difference.Image

I have now put another 50 rounds of 308 down range and a several more rounds of buckshot, and I have come to the conclusion that my Z6i 1.7-10 is going to be "THE SCOPE" for my BBF. While a straight tube scope does "look" better on the gun, the power range of the Z6 is much more versatile.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have been consistently been getting all 9 pellets in a 15 inch circle at 25 yards. Today, I got 8 out of 9 pellets well inside a 12 inch target, and the pattern was much tighter than my previous patterns.

After much handling and shooting, I am very impressed with the European style buttstock. It actually fits me best while shooting open sights. When I raise the gun to my shoulder and put my cheek on the stock, my eye is in perfect position looking down the sights.

Every time I shoot this gun, I am more impressed with it.Image

Your BBF sounds like is is doing great.

Someone commented on that scope looking BIG on your BBF.... BUT as a fella next to me said one time, IF YOU CAN'T SEE THEM YOU CAN'T KILL THEM, AS HE BANGED A POP UP FLARE...

The Swaro scope you have just may be the best all round scope on the Planet. 1.7 on the low end, 10x on the high end 42mm objective for light gathering illuminated reticle...

It would be hard to improve on that.
