For Northern Idaho a BBF 97 in 9,3x74Rx12ga would be the perfect 97.
I have used the 9,3x74R in a double rifle and in a Duo Drilling quite a bit.
I even use it here in Texas for deer and pigs, & turkeys. I have shot some coyotes, bobcat, skunks and armidillos with it as well.
In Africa I have taken quite a bit of plains game including giraffe, as well as cape buff and elephant.
It is not too big for the small stuff, and just enough for the big.
In fact since I send a lot of time in Idaho around Elk City I bought a Blaser D 99 Duo, 9,3x74Rx9,3x74Rx20ga 3" just to use up there when hunting big game, mostly bear, durring the grouse season. The 9,3 works great on bear, and is about perfect for elk.

I am suprised a set of barrels is not more.retrieverman wrote:I wasn't able to get a firm price because Alex wasn't in his office, but he said that they will be in the neighborhood of $1800 a set. If you need a new forearm too, that will add approximately $500.
That being said, it appears to me that it would be a better "investment" to just buy another whole gun instead of buying a set of barrels.
Double rifle barrels probably are a higher, but an extra set of 9,3x74R double rifle barrels would be a great choice for those "all rifle days".
However it sure is handy having a rifle and a shotgun with you all the time.

Re: BBF 97
Just got off the phone with BlaserUSA for a status update, and it wasn't what I wanted to hear. To ship guns out of Germany, Blaser has to send the serial numbers to German Customs for approval. Blaser (Germany) has recently "upgraded" their computer system, and they just got their system linked to German Customs to send them the required information. SUPPOSEDLY, my gun is leaving Germany TODAY, and it should be in Houston at the US Customs by Thursday or Friday and on to BlaserUSA.retrieverman wrote:Still no sign of my BBF.
Basically, I am still probably two weeks away from having my gun in my hands.

Re: BBF 97 IS HERE!!!
I have to admit that I have been really questioning how well I would really like the BBF once it got here, but I can honestly say that it far exceeds my expectations.
It looks like it is about to rain, but I just rode out into the woods on my 4 wheeler and shot my gun. I shot two loads of buckshot and 9 rounds of 308, and I sighted in at 50 yards.
The triggers feel like they are set pretty close to 2 pounds each, and the sights look great. My project for tomorrow is going to be to sight in the rifle sights. Cosmetically, the gun is not real "flashy", but it has a functional appearance. It is definitely SHORT, but it should be handy for stand hunting and getting in and out of a vehicle. I will share more information in the coming days after I have some time to play with it a little more.
Here are a couple of pictures in my BBF how away from home.

Looks good.
I wish my 308/20ga BBF was that short.
I think the more you use it the more you will like it.
I would like to have a set of D99 Duo barrels that short.

Jeff that BBF looks nice! That scope you have on it looks damn near as long as the gun! You should be able to see what your shooting at!

Re: BBF 97 IS HERE!!!
I have always had a bit of an issue of having "short" things...but that's another story.
I like it! I'll be real interested in how it shoots. Did you load your buckshot or were you shooting factory loads?

Shoot low sheriff, they're riding shetlands.
