Annie Got Bit!

Post by retrieverman »

Annie was out with me this afternoon while I was loading up to go to work in the morning, and she came up to me limping and carrying her right front foot. It didn't seem to be bothering her, so I dismissed it as she might have stepped on "something". Later this evening, I looked at it again and noticed that it is swollen, but again, it doesn't seem to be bothering her. I gave her some left over antibiotics and a benedryl, and I will see how it looks in the morning. I certainly hope this doesn't require a trip to the vet.

My best bud's Lab got bit by a rattle snake a couple weeks back. Took her in, couple of different shots and she was doing good last time I saw her. Rattlesnakes are SOBs!

Good luck with her.

It was kind of funny last night. After I dosed Annie with Benedryl, I kept checking on her ever so often, and my wife was worried that I would "disturb" her. Evidently, Benedryl doesn't make her sleepy, but it wires her for sound. She was WILD.

I got up early to go to a job this morning, and when I let her out to feed her, the swelling had gone down. I can't tell where anything bit her, but evidently whatever it was, it wasn't too bad after all.Image

Sounds like it might have only been an insect sting then

Good to hear she has come through alright :handgestures-thumbupright:

I was kind of thinking scorpion maybe? We've got a ton of them around here this year. I've seen some that were huge. I can only imagine they'd hurt like hell and she'd darn sure know she got bit or stung by something. Good that it wasn't a dam rattler.

Good to here she is ok mate, it's always a worry with dog's and bites. My parents had to put their Lab down on Saturday he was a good old boy but old age just got the better of him. He was around 12 or 13 I think.
