Thats a very hard one for me mate, my last dog was the best to train he was a real thinking dog great on birds. But the new dog I have now is a Female she is a much better hunting dog but is a bit more head strong which will be more work for me but she has a great nose. I wish I could put both together what a dog I would have. Time will tell for me at the moment Olsen :?

I have had both, but from now on I only want female dogs ;)

The traning are easier and they dont want to "try" you all the time, like see if I really mean what I say......

I know there is two times a year you cant use them on hunting, but I can live with that.....

And the biggeste plus for me is they can get up from the water, if they go through the ice, the male dogs have big problams with that. I have seen two male dogs that dident make it after a long fight, but everytime they got halfways up, there was something that hold them back

So for me, my old Labrador is the last male dog here........

If its a whippet I prefer males they are bigger to handle foxes and cats.

I like the female dogs better, IME they tend to think a lot more and are less aggressive.

My last dog Girl was by far the smartest hunter that I have ever trained but I have also trained some good dogs over the years.

I learnt many dogs ago that I prefer a female to a male dog. I found them to be easier to work with, better hunters, more affectionate etc etc. 17 dogs later, my opinion has not changed. :)

The terrier breeds that I prefer are all ready so hopped up, that getting their attention is dificult, the females pay attention much better than the males imo.

I, by far, prefer girl dogs. I haven't owned a male since the late 90's, and I killed both of them myself.

I guess I'm in the minority as I prefer male dog. We have both and I like both but find with males it is easier to get them work with you - females you have to find a way to get them on your side, rather than establish dominance and a working relationship.. Not that simple of course but I still think males are easier. Perhaps it is because I have always had males. Then again, my wife refers to our female as my "brown eyed girlfriend" as she (the dog :D ) tends to sneak into our bedroom and climb up next to me in the wee hours, so I am fond of her too.........
