Greetings from Southern California
Greetings from Southern California, new member hopefully soon to be Blaser owner.
I first learned about the Blaser R8 rifle watching THLR.NO on youtube and absolutely fell in love with the simplicity yet complexity of the R8. Being a longtime Remington 700 actions user I liked the ability of being able to change out barrels/calibers without the need for a gunsmith and the straight pull design also won me over.
What is a good price to pay if I were to buy one new? Do any members prefer the adjustable comb over the standard professional model? As of now I have decided on the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber based on the small Mule Deer I hunt and the amount of shooting I plan to do since the ammo is relatively inexpensive compared to other calibers.
Cheers!

I have both fixed stocks and a GRS stock in R8's. I prefer the GRS, but I don't like to carry it. As it weighs 13 pounds with a big 34mm scope, mounts and a semi-weight barrel.

Hello Gamsjagd, thank you for the information. When you say fixed do you mean the Professional stock or the Success? Still learning about the differences in the R8s.
I was actually thinking about sending you a PM about the Minox THLR scope you commented about on a previous scope, do you have experience with it?

Re: Greetings from Southern California
I have two professionals. One I pulled the guts out of to put in the GRS stock.
I used the THLR reticle on an industry day, it is pretty awesome. I do not own one. The Minox with the THLR is as expensive as most other high end scopes Schmidt Bender and Kahles. Anyone would be happy with it.
Hopefully Thomas Haugen will get it put into something that is a little easier to hunt with. a 1.7-18 type of magnification range.

This forum has quickly become one of my favorites, users are more than knowledgeable and questions get answered without the greater than thou mentality.
Glad to be a part of this community, and hopefully soon a Blaser owner to seal the deal sort of speak.
