BD14 The Long Road Ahead

Post by MM »

So far I have made a lot of missteps with the BD14 and as a result I have missed 3 deer under a hundred yards and a coyote at 27 yards. Going into Turkey season I decided to take drastic measures and decided to add a Euro Turkey grip cap to replace the black plastic and bring me some luck.
It worked and I was able to shoot a Turkey with the shotgun barrel at 22 yards. I used a federal 3” shell with 1.5oz of #9 TSS. I was not happy with the number of pellets in the head and neck and a wing bone was broken so I think the pattern is still hitting low so I have more work to do.

I need to research the best way and distance to sight in all three barrels to be effective at a known usable range. I am thinking that might be 40 yards but I need to do further testing. Stay tuned.
Matt

I found a good article on the Bd14 on www.waffenlager.net. I never thought to sight in the 30-06 and 222 parallel to each other vs. same point of impact but it does make sense and at least something to think about. I didn’t mean to offend all the capercaillie out there by calling it a Euro Turkey but they are cousins after all.

Are they kissing cousins or Tasmanian kissing cousins?

Nah, far too distantly related to be Tasmanian cousins.......😂😂 I worked in a logging camp in SW Tassie back when I was young. Seriously wonderful place. And at times, seriously odd.....🙈

Yeah, Tasmania where the father of the groom gives his son his best wishes, and the father of the bride gives the groom some tips. 🤣
