only rail! There is no advantage of the rings over the rail - just that it is more common, but no technical reason.

RAIL ALL WAY LONG.

The only advantage of rings over rail is for Lang range when you want 20-40 moa more adjustment in your scope.

but that is just because no one thought about it. But by the way, the founder of Innogun told me even the standard scope mounts of Innogun have a tilt of 12 MOA. So there is just 8 MOA difference when You take a 20 MOA edition. Not much in most cases... So better a 12 MOA scope mount with SR rail then a 20 MOA on rings - but that is just my 2 cents... ;-)

Only problem I see with a rail, is you can only use it on a rail scope. Rings you can use on any scope. Also easier to sell rings if you have to as there is more tube scopes out there than rail scope. All a personal preference. :handgestures-thumbup:
Measure it, when it’s on the deck

Rail for me every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Once you have one you will be appalled that they are not the universal standard.

I also like rail scopes and they are my choice for most traditional hunting applications. However the notion that they are always plumb and level is incorrect. I had to send a Zeiss HT back to the factory and they replaced it because the housing was machined out of plumb. And one of my Swarovski Z8 SR had to be shimmed to bring it perfectly plumb. But once plumb they are the cat’s meow. And that was only a couple out of a couple dozen.
