Picked her up a couple of days ago. Rigby Highland Stalker in 30/06. Hope to get out to the range next week and will post some photos of targets. Will be an iron sight only shoot. Haven't bought any mounts yet...not sure what I'll get her than euro and QD. Scope will be a 4x S&B. I really do like these Rigbys.

Yes sure is a stunner.

Picked her up a couple of days ago. Out to the Ripley SSAA range today. Overcast, with shifting breeze, not ideal conditions but if I didn't shoot her today it was going to be weeks before the opportunity would be available again.

Iron sights used, shot from bench over a back pack. Federal premium with 180 grain Nosler Partition. I'm pretty happy with her.


100 yard group with centre hold. 100 yard group with 6 o'clock hold. rifle on the bench. Factory target. 50 yard group. with centre hold.

Looking pretty good to me.

I bought her to use her. Not on back pack hunts but she will get used and I suspect there will be a few character marks in the not too distant future.

I suppose I should mention that I reckon the triggers on my Rigby's are the best that I have ever had on any hunting rifle, bar none. They both have better triggers than my R8...and that is something. Something, that I never thought I'd say.

This such a nostalgic rifle, I would consider leaving it optic free and using it as is. I've killed many deer with metallic sights, they work and don't mess up the beautiful lines of a nice rifle like this.

you raise a valid point. I have an FN commercial in 9.3x62 that I have owned for over 20 years. It has worn a 4x Kahles, on and off, for about half that time. When I have the scope fitted on the rifle I dream of using the irons. When I have the score off I miss my Kahles. I looked at getting QD mounts, but the irons are so damn low that I can't find anything with bases low enough to allow me to use the irons.....I recently sent it to a well known gun smith to see if he had a solution. He did, but it involved changing the sights and substantial cash investment. So I ruled that out. Anyway, that rifle has shot every thing from rabbits to scrub bull, with and without optics. I still can't make up my mind...she's currently optic free.

Now with this Rigby I should be able to enjoy the best of both worlds. And if I do come to think that irons are the best option it won't take much to unscrew the bases.

Looks like shes either tightening up with use or your getting used to the sights.

Beautiful looking rifle and obviously shooting well. I'm with the others in using it with irons. One of the things I like to do with the 9.3x62 is use it with iron sights. It's well balanced and really very accurate.
