I have had no experience hunting with dachshunds, however every one I have met seems to have a really big engine for their size.
I lot of people joke about them, but I have always been fond of them.
I admire their courage, it's almost like they do not know they are small.
Life is too short to hunt with an ugly dog.

They have got me into trouble taking on herd of cows many times. But the recall is much better now with the correction collars. If they can't bite it, they will bark until you get there.

Saw this video the other day and couldn't help but think of mchughcb. From what we hear about his little dogs I think they'd enjoy a boar hunt or two. The little guys in the video sure seem to be having the time of their life.

My guess is they would retrieve faster if they could just pull in the same direction.

The British deer society flyer is there as they will ship it to Australia ;)

Well I think they took my money and didn't deliver. Anyway I heard he is coming to Tumbarumba this year. And he's more into tracking wounded deer than teaching pointers how to point. I may actually go this year and take dog1 and dog2 up, just so he is not overwhelmed by the overabundance of the me too GWP crowd.

So the big dog runs around and wears himself out, then the little dog snags the rabbit. Smart little pooches.

Well today was a very interesting day as the dogs got their first duck. A duck came flying over and was shot down in a hail of gunfire. The duck was rolling around the side of the dam anyway I said I"ll take the dogs and get it. We come the edge and the dogs wind scent this duck and they are onto it. I don't think they'll ever be soft mouth and if you don't get the duck off them you'll be second in line to eat it Lol!

I thought I'd filmed how it unfolded but unfortunately I didn't. I"m getting a Drift Ghost S so watch this space there are going to be a few hunts on video.

Well now that the photos are officially public I present to you the sambar my dogs put up last year that was then corner in pinscher movement with my mate and his GWP. He managed to get to it first with a spine shot that dropped it. Massive spiker took 6 of us to lift it onto the ute.

Yep lucky to find it. Bang flop from the K95 with a chest shot. About 50m, complete pass through. No need for the 30R blaser just yet!

There are reasons why you should use a training collar for dachshunds, so you can get your pheasant back.
