Greetings from Croatia!

Post by icebug »

Hi folks!
I've been reading this forum for a while now (I joined in January), but didn't have a need to "interrupt" in your discussions
As the subject says, I'm from Croatia, am 34 yo, hunter, in love with nature and since last week a proud owner of an R8 in 6.5x55 Swedish 8-)
Hope to continue getting useful information from you guys and would love to share the ones I have.

Regards,
Dejan

Glad to see you are a BlaserBud Dejan, and congrats on your R8. I have only had one short visit to Croatia along the coast near Dubrovnik as I spent a year in Sarajevo 1996-97, quite a beautiful country, loved the Dinaric Alps. Maybe I'll get down that way to do some hunting one of these years. What is available in your area, Boar, Chamois, Roe? any Steinbock? How about Red Deer? Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Hi Dom!
We have all of the mentioned above, except Steinbock :(

Anyway, we have plenty of wild boar and the driven hunt is the most exciting way to hunt it.
We have some fallow deer, brown bear and mouflon.
You should come for sure and try it yourself!

Cheers,
d.

Welcome to the board, Dejan! There are many here who are very knowledgeable in the Blaser and other fine firearms and are only too willing to share information.

Glad to see you decided to come in and join the chat! Nothing wrong with lurking but the guys like to know what's going on in other places on this planet. I think most of us have learned a lot about other countries, their hunting styles, game, rules, customs, etc. Big world out there and unfortunately most of us will never be able to hunt in these other places so we at least can enjoy them through the experiences that others have.

Hi Dejan,
I go to Croatia two or three times a year, mainly up the North end near Slatina, Vocen or Papuk.
I go with a group on Driven Boar trips between November and January.
Sometimes I'm lucky and sometimes the other guys are lucky but either way we always enjoy it and manage to get a few Boar between us.
This is me with one of your fellow countrymen.

The area where you're hunting, Slatina, Vocin and Papuk in general is stuffed with Boar!
They have plenty of Red deer and Roe deer as well.
All I can say is that you're one lucky guy! :handgestures-thumbup:
