Best Caliber for K95 Stutzen
Thoughts on calibers for a K95 Stutzen i'm think of buying.
Here is what is offered:
.222 Rem.
5.6x50 R Mag
.243 Win.
6.5x57 R
7 x 57 R
.308 Win.
8 x 57 IRS
I was thinking 8x57 IRS or 6.5x57R
Anybody had any experience in either caliber?

For Australian condition IMO get the biggest mother that they have.. The K95 is a single shot and you want it to count
Your 30-06 is very nice.. you should post a pic mate..!!

Shoot First, measure them later.

Mine is .308. I love the rifle but as a left hand shooter, it can be somewhat problematic as my stock is cast for a right hand shooter.
Shoot low sheriff, they're riding shetlands.

I am not very imaginative when it comes to choosing a caliber for a new gun, and I pretty much stay with what I know. I would go with a 308.

Hey Guys,
I have a brand new in the box K-95 Prestige in 243 for sale (unfired). It has the "American" straight comb stock, very nice wood, and is up-graded with an octagonal barrel, and game scene side plates. I'll also throw in a brand new blaze orange Blaser hat....new this would cost you between $5600-5700.00, but I will let it go for $4150.00 shipped. Only for US residents unfortunately, maybe if you came to visit you could take it back and import it directly...how about a weeks stay in Michigan to boot?

I think you have chosen both of the rounds I would consider. The 8X57JRS would be my choice if I wanted to shoot anything very big. I have done a lot of research into the 323 bore and loaded up to modern specs in a strong rifle it is a very efficiant round.(it kills the manure out of stuff)

Thanks Guys,
I'll post a pick of my K95 Luxus later.
I agree Corjack, 8x57 would be a good choice, due to the barrel length its the biggest caliber they make it in i believe.

My K 95 Stutzen is in 308.
In this power range the 308 has been my favorite for many years.
I use a 308 a lot, so it was a natural for me in the Stutzen.

308 here also...can't beat it. Hey TJ...on the Michigan stay for an international buyer, that reminds me of the old joke....1st prize is a week's stay in Michigan, 2nd prize is 2 weeks

For a break open gun I would always go for a rimmed calibre, a non rimmed will stick to the ejector when reloading.
All depend on what to hunt, but the 7x65R is a very nice all rounder

The problem here in the USA is that rimmed cartridges are almost impossible to find anywhere and usually must be special ordered at greater expense.
I have never had any problems with any Blaser breakopen with a rimless cartridge.
