Aim Point Micro Vs. Reflex sight for K95 ?

Post by secondtry »

Toying with the idea of going down this path (again) with the 52cm 8x57.

I'm familiar with the Aimpoint, but have no experience with any reflex and have never even looked through one.

Thoughts ? And a suitable mount for whatever reflex ?

The reflex sit lower than the old aimpoints and used to be larger dots ie 3 or 4MOA with no manual adjustment of the brightness.
These days the the reflex sit even lower, some have manual brightness adjustment and I've seen some as low as 2Moa.

They are not as hardy as the aimpoint and a good fall can damage them.

Two things make me pick an Aimpoint Micro over a reflex sight:

1) I believe the Aimpoint is still the most robust option. Thats been my personal belief for years, and a firearms trainer I follow recently commented that he sees less issues with Aimpoint sights than any other red dot option by a large order of magnitude.

2) while no optic is immune from some problems with droplets on the lenses in rain, the more open nature of a reflex sight means that it generally cops it much worse when its raining.

H2 has flip top covers so you can have them down until you are ready.

The H2 with qd integral Blaser mount is so simple and convenient that it seems very difficult to go a different direction, but I’m sure you already knew that.

If You get some raindrops on the reflex-sight, they are like a disco ball in worst case - so the Aimpoint is the way to go or some similar style, like Kahles
