How much different, can there be, changing large rifle primers, to large rifle magnum primers, same brand

I would think it could be significant.

My limited experience is that the change affected accuracy, and in 308 size cases, the charge weight had to be reduced.

But that doesn’t mean that the change will be negative. You “may” see improvement in velocity or accuracy etc.

I'd be working the load up again if changing the primer type, I'd do the same if I was changing brand, just to make sure nothing went wrong

Mag ones burn a bit hotter. I found sometimes it brought the grouping a lot tighter. I use the mag primers with my 9.3x62 and the 243.

Cant get any large primers right now, just magnum, so I will try them

I tend to only use magnum primers, I find they are more consistent.
Especially in the 22 hornet.

I use magnum as much as possible, they are less sensitive when it gets cold during winter.

I have about 10 magnum primers to each standard LR primer from what I have stored away. For the last 18 months I have been using magnum LR primers in most cartridges to save the standard primers for my match rifles which really need them.

As already noted, you need to approach your charge cautiously to make sure the load is not too hot with the magnum primer. But I have been running magnum LR primers in my sons and my 9.3x62 rifles and also our 308win rifles with no decrease in accuracy.
