Got the urge to upgrade my Sauer 202 [Synthetic] 300WM to a Blaser R8 - same calibre or maybe 338WM.
Was so impressed after have a few shots of a friends R8 in 7mmWM just thought - this is the way to go for a take-down firearm for travel that shots back to zero reliably after re-assembly. Stock just felt right and didn't belt me in the cheek. I didn't hesitate when offered another shot.
May have to build my 'ideal R8' from available parts as it's not that easy getting what I want here in Australia.
R8 Professional with camo stock [not thumbhole]
Fluted mid-weight barrel in 300WM or second option .338WM - with open sights. Threaded end. [Standard barrel with sights if it has to be.]
I think that's a good platform to start with.
In the meantime I'm here to learn as must as possible about R8's
Thanks.

Well plenty of info, just spend a bit of time browsing. These days with ammo shortage you can't go wrong with 30-06, but if a 338WM tickles your fancy go for it.
