Stutzen virus Australia

Post by Timbo »

Hi All
Seems I may have caught something off this site...
I have a liking for light weight carbines and a stutzen might be just the thing.
Being in Australia there won’t be many about and the importer is around 10 hrs drive away
TheoR8 gave me the importers details (thanks) but just wondering if anyone living a bit closer to Newcastle NSW might own a K95 I could have a look at?
Send me a PM
Thanks in advance
Tim

They are great guns, I definitely love mine but I'm probably way to far from Newcastle to check it out.
The 1st time I picked it up it felt like a kids rifle it was so slim and light, but damn I love shooting it.
I'm soft and I don't care.

I know of five stutzens around Melbourne, but that's no help :( . Speedy has a Stutzen and is on the NSW/Vic border (oops - he beat me to the post).

jamessc has a Stutzen (or the bits for one ) and is closer to you. I sold a K95 rifle to a bloke in QLD but jamessc may be closer.

If this post doesn't turn up a result maybe contact james and look to make an overnighter out of it, or maybe a long, fast, day would get you to him and back.

I'd doubt OSA will have any K95s in-stock esp not a stutzen, they may have a black edition atm from what I can gather.

Thanks for the replies
I’m heading to Rosedale at the end of February for an FClass team practice so possibly catch up with Speedy if it suits on they way there?
Otherwise I’ll be traveling back through Melbourne at the end of March.
Thanks again

Hi speedy
I’ve tried to PM you but the function doesn’t work for some reason.
Is there any tricks to it?

I’ll probably go with a 308 so I’m legal for sambar but if there was an option for any cartridge it would be a 303-25 as that was my first rifle back in the 80s and I’m a fan of the 25 cal-plus it is rimmed!
The 257 Roberts has been my go to for a long time now in a light weight kimber-mostly for pigs and fallow.

The 308 and the Stutzen are an excellent match. 308 is very efficient in the 50cm bbl and noticeably more pleasant to shoot than the 06.

I much prefer a rimmed cartridge in a break action, but the Blaser extractor seems to be trouble free and a very small tdae off for the efficiency of the 308.

7x65R is a great round, but would be a blasting flamethrower in a Stutzen.

I don't find the 30/06 bad to shoot at all, and not that blasty to shoot.
But saying that I'd prefer a 308win as I have the stubby 19" barrel.
7x57R would be better but only if I reloaded.

I kind of like the #1's but they don't takedown or feel as good as the K95.
Still I'd be happy to own one.
