Surpassingly, for this site, you got a near universal response - although you were asking about whether a 9.3 would be any good....

May not be useful info but... I've used 250gr Accubonds and 250gr TTSX mentioned above in my 9.3x62 for moose. I was also loading 250gr Accubonds for one of my friends 9.3x62. Accubonds are terrific bullets but we switched from Accubonds to 286gr Woodleigh RNSN for a bonded bullet because the Accubonds destroyed too much meat. That may not matter in your case. We tend to shoot animals driven by dogs at pretty close range and harvest moose for meat. Your outfitter seems to be implying you need to be prepared for long-range shots, where maybe the Accubond would gain some traction. I still load the Woodleighs for my friends 9.3, I shoot TTSX in my 9.3x62 and currently use Peregrin 250gr Bushmaster bullets in my 9.3x74r because one of my hunting teams has gone lead-free. Everything shoots well in these rifles and they all get the job done just fine, I don't think it really matters to the moose. Your hunting conditions may be different.....

good luck with your hunt!

Hopefully this vote of confidence in the old 9.3 gives you some confidence in it as well.
All of us that love it, love it for a very good reason.

It works and it works damn well. ๐Ÿ‘

An old Swedish barstard that I know once told me.... that the 300 Win Magnum is for those that like the word โ€œ magnum โ€œ the 308 Winchester is for the common working man and the 30/06 is for the refined, thinking man and that itโ€™s never a bad choice ๐Ÿ‘.

I find the 30/06 and 9.3x62 make a great pair of old timers. A perfect match for the discerning travelling hunter.
The 300win definitely has more legs, but I see as more for the hunting shooter then the hunting stalker. ๐Ÿ˜œ
