How Do I Cut Powder Kernels Into Equal Quarters...
Recently I had the opportunity to purchase a Sartorious analytical scale for a ridiculously good price and it is in almost new condition.
Now obviously I don’t need one for loading hunting ammunition, but what has that got to do with anything if I am getting fun out of it..
It has totally blown me away with it’s build quality and superb speed and accuracy, incredible.
Do any other Blaserbuds have any experience with Sartorious scales and have any tips for there use?
I was intending to use it in combination with an Omega trickler for my 6.5x47 Lapua.

I was tempted to say with a hammer or a blow torch, but being this is the internet some numpty would do it.

Now that right there is some serious overkill.....
I've used exactly that or similar scales for 30+ years. Excellent scales. Like all analytical scales they are sensitive to being level, to vibration and to airflow but there is nothing surprising there. Like all scales they require occasional calibration. I don't know how to do it but you might be able to find instructions online. We do this annually for our lab scales. They are pretty damn stable. Great purchase if you have the space to set it up somewhere nice and stable.

Just took a closer look at the photo. Those scales have done some work. Not a problem, they are built for decades of daily heavy use. I see the d=0.1mg? So if I have read that right, it measures accurately to 0.0001g. Is that going to be sensitive enough?

Thanks Vaughan, yes I have a really good work area with no open windows and controlled ventilation. When you say say calibrate, do you mean calibrate with a class one weight?

So, the correct question to ask is how do I cut a grain of powder into 10 pieces.

Yes, calibrate against check weights. The ones I have owned over the years have never drifted all that much, it's not like these things are equivalent to RCBS Chargemaster scales.....
As I said, I've never done it, always had a tech come in and do it, but I suspect it is not all that difficult.
