Why carrying 2 barrels loaded when You have only one lock to fire? Does not make sense to me : 2 barrels, 2 locks and 2 triggers = 2 working guns in one...
life is too short for not having the best equipment You could buy...

The problem with shooting slugs in the BBF97 is that the only slugs that shoot well are the Brennekes, The Federal Tru balls would work in a pinch and all the others I tested were just good noise makers. If you ever want to shoot buckshot, go with the 12 gage as in the 20 your choices are limited.

For me, the "cock once shoot twice" is the way to go. The 12 ga might be clunkier than a 20 or 16, but neither shares the same ammo availability which is what I was looking for.
I didn't buy my BBF as a novelty but to be my main hunting gun, and I was only interested in a "common" gauge/caliber that should fill all my everyday hunting needs.

I would definately get the BBF 97.
If I was buying one for me it would be a 9,3x74R/12ga with the short barrels.
I got one for my 11 year old nehew to use so I got a 308/20ga as it matched one of my D 99's and the 308 R93 and 20ga benelli he also shoots. So we can share the same ammo.
Personally I would not want a 16ga in anything as it is just too hard to find shells for it in the USA.

To each his own, but I really don't see the need to pimp a $3500 gun.D99 wrote:I think I am going to eventually get a bass boat stock from Tom, but what I was really thinking about doing is having the receiver either done in Forest Green or Black duracoat. Would be super cool to have a stock in dark green and black laminate.

Haven't we been through this before? Blaser doesn't make a short barrel version of the BBF.

For the record, the guy making remarks from the peanut gallery will be fondling his own BBF 97 in a week or two, and it sounds like it may be a little longer for you.D99 wrote:B97 $3500retrieverman wrote:To each his own, but I really don't see the need to pimp a $3500 gun.D99 wrote:I think I am going to eventually get a bass boat stock from Tom, but what I was really thinking about doing is having the receiver either done in Forest Green or Black duracoat. Tommy Nowak stock $1000
Duracoat receiver in hot pink $150
Remarks from the peanut gallery .....Priceless!
It will be a long time before I can get a stock from Tom Nowak. I have a Sauer SSG 3000 to pay off, the remainder of the Sauer 202 on my credit card to pay off and this B97. I will be lucky if I can afford that Alberta bear huntin in May.

It is hell to have champagne taste on a beer budget.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell a bass boat stock is? Is it some sort of gel coat?
Shoot low sheriff, they're riding shetlands.
