S&B PMII 5-25x56

Post by Michael17 »

Hey guys,

Hoping to get some feedback on the Schmidt and Bender 5-25x56 second focal. The P4FL2 reticle is super fine and is what I’m after. Wanting to put it on a 6xc barrel I got on order.

Cheers

I think you can't go wrong with a PMII 5-25. It's the gold standard, still, and the mass produced one with the P4FL2 ret (FFP) is around $2700 in the States (not sure what they sell for in Australia). It was the scope that changed everything and it's awesome, I prefer the DT turrets. They have locking turrets but I consider them to be too expensive.

The glass is amazing, the tracking is rock solid, and it's one of the only scopes out there developed totally on a German military contract. There might be a few newer scopes with some comparable quality but really nothing that surpasses this design.

They also hold their value like crazy, which is a sign people keep them and value them. SB kind of dropped the ball on all the scopes that were supposed to replace the 5-25, including the 3.4-27 and the new 5-45. The 5-25 along with the 12-50 are the best scopes they ever made.

I use my 5-25 for ELR work on the 338 Lapua sometimes because the ret is actually fine enough, even in the FFP.

Thanks for the feedback!

I was not sure with the FFP will the ret be fine enough at long range. Agreed, the design of the PMII is second to none.

what other scopes would you recommend for Long range shooting?

I also like the Nightforce NXS 8-32

I have a FFP 5-25 PMII and no issues with the thickness of the ret at top magnification. FFP is really the only way to go as your ret is at the correct scale through out the zoom range. I also have a nightforce F1 3.5-15 by 50 which is also FFP. excellent scope

The new Kahles 525i is a similar application scope that might warrant comparison.
