That's pretty impressive Carl. Just don't know if we can get it here that's all.

Re: What I learnt about shotgun pellets
I'd definitely love it, but the chances of getting it here are slim.
We use lead shot for everything appart from waterfowl when all you can get is steel.
Our importers wont bring in shot, even lead shot as shotgun reloading is very rare here these days.
I would love to get my hands on TSS and load some up, even buying factory shells would be good. I tried buying Hevi-shot but they stopped importing it as at $50 a box nobody was buying it as it was too dear.
Aussie shooters couldn't understand the math that it might be twice as dear but you end up shooting half as much to bag out.

Even though I now love TSS, I have to admit that nickel plated high antimony BB got the job done to 62yds, ANY ANGLE. At least you can shotgun them with the larger lead shot. As long as you are not forced to use steel you are in pretty good shape.

Re: What I learnt about shotgun pellets
Thats going to be a problem in the future, look at that good old shithole California, lead free hunting.
I remember a guy on one of those wildlife cop shows that got done hunting pigs on his own land because he had lead buckshot in his shotgun.
He said it nevero occurred to him because it was a lead bullet ban and he could still trap shoot in the same area with lead shot.
I understand that as in the NT I could hunt pigs on a swamp with lead buckshot at night but had to use steel shot for the geese in them morning.
Actually I could use lead shot at the same time in the same place for cats but not on the geese?

Re: What I learnt about shotgun pellets
But side note, I might have to buy a Blaser shotgun soon as I'm really getting into shotgun hunting again.
I just wish they made a SxS.

Re: What I learnt about shotgun pellets
Yesterday after 9 hours of hunting my friend was complaining about the weight of a F16 sporter 32" barrel after he held my Beretta SP 20G which was almost a 1kg lighter!!
He's going to break out his Franchi Phoenix 20G for a change he said.

Winchester lead shot is still available https://www.rebelgunworks.com.au/search ... =Lead+shot
I’ve not seen the locally made “Ballantine” for a long while though. Given the decline in lead smelters and shot towers I wouldn’t put money on the origins of the Winchester product though....

Definite advantage to a 20g in the weight stakes, especially for whistling with a shotgun and rifle. Makes me wonder why I just sold mine.

I also haven't seen wads on the shelf or even out the back in a very long time too.

Re: What I learnt about shotgun pellets
I'm thinking I might pick up some 209 primer muzzleloader adaptors, then I can see how all sorts of weird and wonderful things pattern out of the scattergun.
I'vegot a 2nd Baikal that I don't care if it gets damaged and the thing is built like a tank so I could handle it.

Re: What I learnt about shotgun pellets
I managed to get some Eley VIP 32gr #4 20g shells. Pulling apart i found it was 30.5grams with 193 pellets. The size and weight was slightly smaller than the standard spec . However i am keen to test the patterning and performance on game.

Re: What I learnt about shotgun pellets
By chance somebody gave me these yesterday to try. They are getting up there with the 12g.

Yes they are. May test the pheasant load next week.
