Dog Choices
If you were to get another dog breed, besides the one you had allready, what would you get?
For me, one of my favorite breeds is the Welsh Corgi, I would like to get another one of those. My problem with Corgis is that their life span is only about 10 to 12 years. I get so attatched to them, the stress of losing one is about more than I can bear. The rat terrier that I have now will hopefully go into her upper teens or better. I am still tore up over losing the last dog, and it is nearly two years now. If I were to get a hunting dog it would be a beagle or basset hound. I just love watching a hound work a rabbit while I am setting there with a 410 shotgun or 22 rifle.

Re: Dog Choices
Since I have seen vizslar's dog and how well she works in saying that Vislar is a great gundog trainer over here in OZ as well but I like the look of the dog and the energy the dog gives off. For Sambar hunting the Wire hair is the most popular dog out here, but I think the Vislar might be a tad better to work with. I have a Weimaraner cross, German Wirehaire pointer and she is showing great sign as a hunting dog. She is about 1 1/2 at the moment. But I think my next dog in time might be a Vislar

Re: Dog Choices
Don't really know, probably either a Jamthund or Gråhund. Both are used for moose hunting and both breeds are very nice natured. But we already have three "dog men" on the hunting team so not really an option. Another possibility would be a Norrbottenspets for bird hunting but they tend to be a bit yappy so I suspect I will just have wirehairs for the forseeable future.

Re: Dog Choices
My next dog would be something for tracking.....
I mostly hunt with my rifle and I would love to have a dog I could train on tracking
But a Retriver for picking up geese and other birds is a must here around
