Yeah, thats a similar weight to my Edge with the same scope. I probably have an extra pound or so on your rifle. I reckon recoil would be pretty similar too.deerhunter338mag wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 6:53 pmJust on 5kg with the NF NXS 22-56zs.Rifletuner wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 4:19 pmThats actually pretty mild looking. Here is a quick video before I had the brake fitted and cerakoted. Without the brake it tracks very well and with the brake it's even better. If you don't have a flinching issue, there's nothing like watching your target get hit and everything that happens after the shot.

Dont worry, it will match the gold fillings on your teethdeerhunter338mag wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 6:55 pm
I only found out it was gold last Wednesday when I got the call from Safari. They said you you don’t want gold we can sell it but it’s very unlikely we will find another one. I said I will take it.

With the T4 Terminator it’s like a pussy cat to shoot. Tracks magnificently . You just watch the hit through the scope as it should be.Rifletuner wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 7:57 pmYeah, thats a similar weight to my Edge with the same scope. Yeah, I run a T4 on my Edge too. Thats what the terminator brake was made for. Makes a big kicking hunting rifle a pleasure to shoot.deerhunter338mag wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 10:01 pm

I have been thinking about making up a lighter 338 with a carbon barrel and stock, maybe in 338 RUM. Losing a few pounds would make it a dream to carry. Not sure it would be as nice to shoot though, even with the Terminator.

Just go a bigger brake like the T5 and use the 250gr projectile that will help keep the pressure and not make it as punchy. I think a longer barrel helps a lot as well. Mine is 28" then the muzzle brake. But The 338Rum is not too bad to shoot anyhow and mine tracks perfectly. Only issue with the 338Rum is getting good brass. Its not cheap.Rifletuner wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 4:12 pmYeah, I run a T4 on my Edge too. Thats what the terminator brake was made for. A mates got a terminator on his Kimba 308, it weighs under 6lbs scoped and makes it feel like a 223rem.
But bloody loud, that's for sure.

Have you tried pricing 338 Lap cases lately?deerhunter338mag wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 5:10 pm Only issue with the 338Rum is getting good brass. Its not cheap.
My 338 Edge is just made by expanding necks on Rem 300 RUM brass and shoots pretty well. I know even Rem 338 RUM cases can be very difficult to find at times though.

They are loud and do blow a bit of manure, but they turn the big guns into pussy cats.

Re: Elmers Custom R93 338Rum Barrel, Load development
I think the lap brass is one of the best on the market. My 338lapimp has smashed out over a 1000 rounds off 60 case I fireformed. But I do anneal them and clean them which I think makes a significant difference. I'm using Remington brass atm in my 338Rum. Its very close to imposable to get, as the issues with the Remington company. Can always go Bertram brass, but can be a touch inconstant at times and fiddle to play with. Or you can make the brass out of 300Rum brass that's been very successful I know a couple of guys that have done it. I've just ordered some Nosler 338Rum brass which is not cheap at all, but it is what it is.Rifletuner wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 7:50 pmHave you tried pricing 338 Lap cases lately?deerhunter338mag wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 5:10 pm Only issue with the 338Rum is getting good brass. The gold should be titanium nitrate(nitride?) so it's more than cosmeticRifletuner wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 7:58 pmDont worry, it will match the gold fillings on your teethdeerhunter338mag wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 6:55 pm

Mate, I agree. Have preferred Lapua brass for over 20 years. The only other cases I have found in the same League is RWS.deerhunter338mag wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 8:08 pm

I was more commenting on 338 Lap cases in general. Everyone making brass for the Lap seems to be right up their in price. Even Hornady brass for the 338 Lap is dear as poison.
