9.3x62
(Cartridge) 9.3x62
(Brand of bullet) Nosler
(Weight of bullet) 286gn
(Brand of brass) highland
(Type of powder) AR2206H
(Grains of powder) 55gn
(Brand, and type of primer) Federal large magnum
(COL) ?
(FPS) ?
(Rifle) R93
(Scope) 2-7x36 Kahles
(Weather conditions & temp.) light rain bout 30deg
(accuracy @ 100yd) didnt mesure but touching is touching.
(notes)
I run out of factory ammo on a recent lay over hunt while moving from Darwin to Brisbane so I had to work up a quick load, I went for a mid range load as I didn't fave time to work out a max load.
But Im pretty happy with the results as it turnned out.

Re: 9.3x62
I put two test loads in the right hand target loaded with AR2217, I liked that load and want to get more accuracy out of it, its really mild but Im flying blind as there is no load data I can find using that slow a powder.
But I would like an accurate 2150fps load if I can put it together.
Ps, performance on game was great 6 kills with 6 shots from a lot of different angles.

Re: 9.3x62
He was alright for the area but due to the dry they were all light on weight.
Im going to get a new press and once my gear arrives Im going to load up some of the 2217 loads and test them out, I would love to get a few of the new Winchester power points up with 2217.

Re: 9.3x62
No, but the next powder I try will probably be Reloader 17 to get a fast load and AR2217 to work out a nice 2100fps load with a full case of powder.TheoR8 wrote:Speedy, have you ever tried 2208 and/or 2209?

Test also the 250gr accubond. I have been shooting this bullets this year. Easy to get smal groups with. Hits like Thors hammer.
4 piggies and 2 mooses didntt complain.

Re: 9.3x62
Hi Speedy.
You really should consider AR2208. 59.0 grains in my R93 9.3x62 in Norma cases does 2300 fps with the traditional 286s. Slightly compressed load and like yours throws nice cloverleafs, when I do my part.
Nothing argues with the 9.3 ... may have to come to Au one day to find something big enough to recover a projectile from !!!
Regards, David

Re: 9.3x62
Agree with akaroa1. My R93 works better with 2208 than with 2206 or RL15. Not enough velocity with 2206 and both accuracy and velocity with RL15 (old swedish RL15 I think) not as good as with 2208. These results are with 250 Accubonds and 250 Woodleighs. Have found that a case full (60 to 62gns) of 2209 or Nobels O gives more speed than the faster powders with 286 Woodleighs. This load will exceed chronographed velocity of Norma factory 286 loads. This is theoretically wrong, but it seems to work. Didn't get too fussed about the accuracy with the 286's but it was still very good. Rem 9 1/2s, RWS brass. Have used Norma and Lapua brass and although the RWS is quite a bit heavier (IE reduced capacity) than the others, it will cop heavier loads than the others before I encounter case head expansion. I haven't used 2217, but I will be surprised if you can use a case full with 286's (or 250s).

Re: 9.3x62
Did any of you guys try Reloader 17 with 250gr Barnes TTSX?
Think I might give it a try.
Been playing with QL and I think I found a good recipe.

Re: 9.3x62
Nope but I've loaded some 293gr TUGs and 320gr Woodleighs using Norma URP, which has about the same burn rate. Not tried 'em yet. Just need to wait for the snow to leave the range.....

Please let me know how do Woodleighs behave when you try them.

Re: 9.3x62
Icebug, I forgot to answer this directly although I posted the info elsewhere, my apologies.icebug wrote:Please let me know how do Woodleighs behave when you try them.
For the heavy Woodleighs I settled on a load of 63gr of Norma URP. Lapua brass, CCI250 primers COAL 3.430" (87mm). My CED says 690m/s at around 5m from the muzzle. Shoots good, easily MOA for 5-shot groups if I am not being careless, which is better than needed for close range shots on running game...
I've only shot the one moose heifer with the load. She did not seem to notice being hit, which worried me at the time, but she fell over after about 80m so I am happy for now.
Did you have any luck with those 250gr TTSX loads?
