I had some 45gn monolithics that wouldn't stabilise at 22lr/mag velocity, they all keyholed. But I was thinking about trying them with a case full of lilgun for about 1000fps more velocity.
Anyone tried this or think it's worthwhile trying, or would I just be wasting powder?

Re: Stabilising and unstable bullet?
In short, no it doesn't work.
But it did stabilise them a bit better, I fired 6 rounds and 3 actually hit point on and the others didn't key hole as badly although the group at 50m was about 5" so I'm giving up on them.

What was the problem do you think? Long for weight bullets needing a higher twist?

Re: Stabilising and unstable bullet?
Yep, they were an sintered alloy and a bit too long to stabilise in a 1:16" barrel.
A copper 45gn Barnes will stabilise but these were a bit too pointy, if I had a 1:14" twist I think it would have been fine.
